News and Announcements
Given the smaller numbers of returning racers this year we have decided to not host a formal registration night. Registration forms have been sent to all returning racers and they can be returned with payment to any of the Board members or through Darren Taylor at Steinberg and Mahn.
Heads up for the 2018-2019 ski season! Preparation is underway for the upcoming year and the board has been busy behind the scenes. Registration forms are available on the Resource page for anyone to print off. New members can contact the TSR board through this website to make arrangements to meet and answer questions or to drop off the forms. The annual AGM will be three weeks later on October 25. Dryland training is set to start on the weekend after Thanksgiving. We are starting the planning for the Mont Tremblant pre-season camp again for the week before Christmas.
New this year, TSR will be at the Welcome to Timmins night held at the MacIntyre Arena on September 5. Hope to see you there. Keep checking back for club updates as they become available.
The Slalom Derby has come and gone. Great weekend, great event. We could not have asked for better weather or snow conditions. Kamiskotia Snow Resort came through with fantastic grooming and food to make the whole weekend a success. Lots of volunteer hours go into presenting an event weekend like this but we are sad when it is over since the season is wrapping up and we have to wait until next year to strap on the boards again. Thank you to everyone for a spectacular season. See you next year!
The 22nd Annual Timmins Slalom Derby is coming this weekend – Easter Weekend. The snow conditions have held up fine and though we are getting a few warm days, cool night and a coming freeze promises fantastic snow conditions for race weekend. The crew will be out Thursday to set up for the race and we will meet at 8pm at the Senator Hotel for the coaches’ meeting. With many teams attending, the registration will take a little longer so feel free to come a bit early to sign in and pay. I am attaching the daily schedule for the weekend to review or access. We may shorten things up on Sunday but will discuss at the coaches meeting on Saturday.
The Timmins Ski Racers are proud of Mac Marcoux and his guide Jack Leitch. Their dedication and hard work has paid off this season, capped off at the Paralymic Games.
A GOLD and BRONZE medal at the Winter Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang, Crystal Globe for overall male athletes, plus Crystal Globes in both Downhill and Super G…not to mention 4 Golds and a Silver at World Champs leading into the games!
You are an inspiration to racers at every level!
